ONLINE READERS COMMENT: Too many ‘gally, gally’ songs played on JUTC buses

Dear editor,

There is a saying, “Anyweh yuh tun, macka juk yuh.”We regret the fact that, some of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus drivers are playing unpleasant music in the public. For example, the radio station that some of the drivers listen to does not play good songs. Most times they play too many “gally, gally” songs, or songs with unpleasant words about the opposite sex. They can play songs about the beauty of nature, or something that is more edifying to the passengers. They play too much sex music — too much filth. On the other hand, we give credit to all the drivers on the JUTC buses who have their radio playing very good music — religious songs too — that even the little children can listen to. Isn’t that wonderful? We are therefore asking the other drivers to do likewise and play clean songs that we all can enjoy, listen to, and feel better in our minds.Let us respect the passengers and maintain a standard of manners and respect for our fellow Jamaicans.Thank you very much.Donald J Mckoy
