Jayds chronicles life’s experiences
THE harsh reality of growing up in the ghetto is chronicled in Weh We Come From , the latest single from newcomer Jayds.
The song, produced by 4th Genna Music, was released earlier this month.
“The song is inspired by past events and me becoming an artiste while growing up in the ghetto. It also talks about young artistes who are also in ghetto. All of this is coming from my perspective,” Jayds told the Jamaica Observer.
The deejay describes himself as a lover of music, as this gives him the opportunity to relate to persons on different levels.
“Music also allows me to express myself, feelings, thoughts and emotions so everyone can understand me. Being a lover of art also helps me create music on a more detailed level; meaning it helps to highlight where something can gain more from adding less, and vice versa. What I bring to the table is a new generation dancehall voice, trap style, flow, beats and production,” said Jayds.
Jayds (real name Jonoi Ranjay McCoulsky) is from the Vineyard Town community of east Kingston. A former student of the Meadowbrook High, he gained seven passes in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate before moving on to Quality Academics in Kingston to study sociology, communication studies, business management and psychology.
Now in his early 20s, the deejay and singer has to date released the mix tape titled Jayds Mind Activity.
Jayds is also a producer and engineer and has worked on beats including Hot Year, Pure Water and Dancehall Plague rhythms.
