DRAX HALL, St Ann — Former champions Rusea’s High will have their backs against the wall today as they travel to Drax Hall to face Brown’s Town High trailing 0-1 in their ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup return-leg second-round game, set to start at 3:00 pm.

Ten-time champions Rusea’s High were ambushed in Saturday’s first leg at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday, their first loss of the season, and must win by at least two goals today if they are to advance to the quarter-final round set to start Saturday.

The final six spots in the quarter-finals will be decided today, with the remaining return-leg games set to be played with Brown’s Town, St James High, Garvey Maceo and Central High, all boasting leads. Two of those ties are deadlocked with Spot Valley High and Fair Prospect locked at 2-2, while Little London and Alston are at 1-1.

Lennon High will continue the defence of their Ben Francis KO title after beating Port Antonio High 2-0 yesterday for a 4-1 aggregate. They join the nine other schools that have booked their spots in the quarterfinals.

Kewsi Watts scored both goals yesterday, after scoring both goals on Saturday.

At Drax Hall today, Rusea’s High must convert the chances they created on Saturday as it is expected that Brown’s Town could drop players behind the ball and try to defend their lead.

On paper, Rusea’s High have the advantage scoring 30 goals in 10 games and conceding just four against Brown’s Town’s 13 goals and nine against.

Daniel Reid leads the Rusea’s High team with eight goals and will be the target man along with Jhavoy Diaz and Leonardo Fogarthy, while Roshawn Vernon and Franklyn Thompson will carry the hopes of the St Ann-based school.

Central High will take a big 2-0 lead into today’s game against Petersfield High at Juici Field in the second game of the double-header set to start at 3:00 pm.

Donald Rhule got both goals on Saturday.

St James High appear for a place in the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2015 season, with a 4-0 lead over Mile Gully High when both meet at Jarrett Park.

Mile Gully scored 35 goals in their first round, 11 coming in one game against May Day High and 17 in their first two games, and managed just 18 over their next nine games.

Marlon Miller will carry the hopes for Mile Gully with his tally of 10 so far, but the St James High defence should be equal to anything they might have today.

Garvey Maceo will also have ‘home’ advantage over Seaforth High who they edged 2-1 on Saturday, but cannot relax against a team that will try to find a way to claw back into contention y back today.

Both Spot Valley High and Little London will hope playing at home will give them the edge in their games as they seek to return to the quarter-finals.

Little London will also hope playing closer to home will help them continue their comeback after rallying from a goal down in Manchester on Saturday.
