For the first time in 73 years Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day will share the same date and for this rare and special occasion the question is how best to celebrate both.

Observing a no-red-meat diet over the Lenten season and incorporating seafood plays out nicely for Valentine’s Day, as some among us swear by seafood as their aphrodisiac of choice. If sea life be the food of love, eat on!

Thursday Food checked in at Smokeez by the Sea in Montego Bay for a taste of its menu offerings for Valentine’s Day. Options include fish, conch and lobster done fried, grilled, foil-roasted and curried, with conch and fish tea also available. Sides include bammy, festival, sweet potato wedges and plantains.

Coupled with the great seafood offerings is a tranquil spot that certainly has the ambience for a lovely romantic dinner which will leave you wondering where the time went.

Co-principal Roxanne Maragh expressed delight at the two celebrated dates falling on the same day giving persons a chance to enjoy the best of both worlds.

“We are looking forward to hosting couples on the night and we plan to make it extra-special for them; we are discounting our prices and serving complimentary glasses of wine for the ladies. We are enhancing the mood by making sure we have the right music and all the right touches to make it a great night,” Maragh explained.
