Rihanna: ‘Reggae always feels right to me’
Rihanna has
finally opened up about her decision to do a reggae-inspired album.
For the November issue of Vogue magazine, Rihanna was asked if her ninth album is still a reggae project. She responded: “I like to look at it as a reggae-inspired or reggae-infused album. It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks.”
Although Rihanna
was born in Barbados, she said that reggae had a major influence on her life.
“Reggae always feels right to me. It’s in my blood. It doesn’t matter how far or long removed I am from that culture or my environment that I grew up in; it never leaves. It’s always the same high,” the Fenty Beauty mogul said.

Rihanna went mainstream in 2005 with a dancehall-infused single Pon De Replay, but since her big break, her focus has been on hip hop and pop music.
“Even though
I’ve explored other genres of music, it was time to go back to something that I
haven’t really homed in on completely for a body of work,” the 31-year-old
explained.
Although fans are eager to hear Rihanna ninth album, a release date has not been disclosed. However, speculations are that it will be released later this year or some time next year.
