What a year for Buju: Deejay makes major moves since release from prison
It was a day very much like today, December 7, that Buju Banton stepped off a flight from the United States, returning to Jamaica after being incarcerated on a drug charge for the better part of a decade.
However, we don’t think Buju expected, few could have, the kind of reception that the Gargamel received from fans after touching down at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston in December 2018. It did not stop in Jamaica, as the support he received from people worldwide was almost immeasurable, further pushing the deejay into legendary status.
Since his release, Buju has been living a life that a number of artistes must be envying. Buju’s ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ concert in March and other appearances, including Reggae Sumfest 2019, have drawn huge crowds with fans eager to see and hear the artiste who has been dubbed a reggae/dancehall superstar.
Buju has since teamed up with American entertainer
DJ Khaled for a track called Holy Mountain, and he has released new
music, including the most recent, Trust. He has now joined the Roc
Nation family, which has linked him with American music mogul Jay-Z, and he has
also met Bajan superstar Rihanna who is also a fan of the reggae artiste.
The man ‘who just wanna be loved’ has been touring
Europe and the Caribbean at his leisure, and the crowds only seem to get bigger
when he hits the stage.
What can we say, BUZZ fam, it’s not a bad
look for Buju.
