Florida COVID-19 total reaches 40,001 with 1,715 deaths
TALLAHASSEE, Florida — The Florida Department of Health, is reporting that today, as of 11 am, there are 802 new positive COVID-19 cases (754 Florida residents and 48 non-Florida residents) and 46 more deaths related to COVID-19.
“While Florida’s testing has increased over the past week, the per cent of those testing positive for COVID-19 overall is eight per cent. On May 8, 4.5 per cent of new cases tested positive,” the Health Department said in a statement today.
Of the 46 people who have died of COVID-19 came from Broward, Charlotte, Dade, Flagler, Lee, Manatee, Palm Beach, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole and Walton counties.
There are a total of 40,001 Florida cases with 1,715 deaths related to COVID-19.
To date, 698 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.
