Man caught on CCTV robbing St Elizabeth clinic pleads guilty
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – A St Elizabeth man has pleaded guilty to office breaking and larceny after he was captured on CCTV removing items from the Portsea Health Centre in the parish last month.
Forty-three-year-old Omar Kavannah, a resident of Barber Green District in Southfield, appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court in Santa Cruz on Tuesday.
Police said Kavannah was identified on surveillance footage breaking into the health centre on April 8 where several items, including a wheelchair and microwave, were stolen. The items were valued at $50,000.
A raid was subsequently carried out in the area and the microwave was recovered.
On Saturday, April 30, Kavannah was arrested and charged by the Junction Police.
He is scheduled to return to court on June 30 for sentencing.
