KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported 79 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, September 3, bringing the infection total to 150,180.

The new cases comprise 47 females and 32 males, with ages ranging from three years to 96 years.

Five new deaths were reported bringing the total death toll to 3,267.

The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (20), St Catherine (eight), St James, St Elizabeth and Clarendon (four) Trelawny, St Thomas and St Ann (one), Manchester (15), St Mary (nine) Portland and Westmoreland (six).

Hanover was the only parish to report no new cases.

The deaths reported are:

1. A 90-year-old male from St James who died in March 2022

2. An 84-year-old female from St Ann who died in August 2022

3. A 95-year-old male from St Catherine who died in August 2022

4. A 73-year-old female from St Catherine who died in August 2022 and,

5. An 85-year-old female from St Catherine who died in September 2022.

There were 86 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 97,012.

Currently, 124 people are hospitalised, 42 of whom are moderately ill, two severely ill and six in critical condition.

Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 17.5 per cent.
