Kingston College’s (KC) striker Dujuan “Whisper” Richards says he is very determined to win this year’s ISSA/Manning Cup Golden Boot award.

Richards scored his 20th goal of the season to lead the defending champions to an easy 4-1 victory over North Street rivals St George’s College at the Stadium East field on Saturday.

He scored his goal in the 53rd minute to move his tally one ahead of Mona’s Donhue Mitchell in the race for the leading scorer award.

Nashordo Gibbs in the 13th and 18th minutes and Teyshawn Mattis in the 48th were other scorers for KC.

Richards said his main focus is to score as many goals as possible this season and to help his school to get back into the final of the competition.

“It really feels good to be the leading goal scorer in the competition because Golden Boot is something that I want this season,” said Richards.

“I have been working hard on my finishing because this is something that I really want,” he added.

The 16-year-old Richards shared that his team have been working extremely hard this season and they are very focused on defending their title.

“I am 100 per cent sure that we are going to defend our title because we have been working hard for that and so we are going to take everything this year,” he pointed out.

KC dominated the early proceeding and were rewarded when Gibbs arrived at the near post to fire home from point-blanked range past goalkeeper D’Jone Davis after just 13 minutes.

The speedy but skillful Gibbs, who tormented the St George’s College with his trickery and clever off the ball movements, doubled KC’s lead five minutes later with a powerful right-footed shot which went like rocket past Davis, as KC led 2-0 at half-time.

KC came out firing in the second period and were quickly reward three minutes into the stanza when Mattis scored his team’s third goal of the match with an easy tap in from close range.

The lanky Richards added KC’s fourth goal with a beautiful curling left-foot shot past Davis.
