A Kingston man is being sought as the main suspect after a house in New Bowens, Clarendon, was broken into and more than $1 million in cash and items stolen.

Police have recovered some of the stolen items and detained one man but say the suspect, who is from Franklin Town, is still at large.

The robbery reportedly occurred between 3:50 am and 6:00 am on Monday.

It was reported that the homeowner left his home for work and securely locked the doors. While in Kingston, he received a telephone call that men were seen taking items from his house and loading them into a white Toyota Noah.

The householder returned home to find that the culprits entered his house by gaining entry through the front door. He then made checks and saw that the house was ransacked and several items missing.

The items included three televisions, a generator, a power wash machine, two metal doors, a wedding ring, $250,000, drills, and a Samsung tablet, all estimated to value more than $1 million.

On Tuesday, police, acting on information, intercepted the Toyota Noah and arrested the driver. The driver led cops to an unoccupied one-room dwelling house.

The house was searched, and cops found a Honda generator, a Honda power wash and eight video cameras. The items were identified by the homeowner.

Police also retrieved $46,000 from the driver, who has since been detained as they continue their investigations.
