‘The Well Encounter’ returns on March 18

GOSPEL concert The Well Encounter — which was postponed on December 10 — is now scheduled for Sabina Park in Kingston on March 18.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Courtleigh Hotel and Suites in New Kingston on Tuesday evening.

The show is headlined by Grammy-nominated supergroup Maverick City.

“An encounter is when you’re not afraid to let your heart open to God; he is not a heartbreaker. You can lose your heart to Him and worship Him for who He is. This event is a pursuit of God and we are asking you to join us again for this journey. Let’s get there together,” said conceptualiser Ingrid Abrahams-Larmond.

During the press conference, the organisers played a video message from Grammy Award-winning ministers Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine from Atlanta-based worship music collective Maverick City, promoting the new date for the event.

“We have great, amazing, exciting, exhilarating news. We are coming to Jamaica, Kingston on March 18, we are going to be with Kingdom Culture… go and get your tickets. It’s going to be amazing. We are coming and it’s going to be great,” said Moore and Raine in the video message.

Ministering to millions globally through dynamic praise and worship, the supergroup has five nods this year at the 65th annual Grammy Qwards in the categories: Best Contemporary Christian music album (Breathe); Best Gospel Album (Kingdom Book One Deluxe with Kirk Franklin); Best Gospel performance/song (Kingdom with Kirk Franklin); Best Contemporary Christian music performance/song Fear Is Not My Future with Kirk Franklin, and also Crowder’s God Really Loves Us (radio version), on which they and Dante Bowe are featured.

Abrahams-Larmond said the postonement was a blessing in disguise as it allowed them to forge new partnerships with the Honey Hill Transformational charity and Food for the Poor Jamaica to assist the poor and indigent.

Patrons who have purchased pre-sold tickets at authorised outlets are advised to retain these tickets for future use. Tickets purchased online will still be valid once receipts and online confirmations are maintained.

The concert, which is inspired by the biblical parable of the Samaritan woman’s encounter with Christ at a well, is expected to lift the spirits of those in attendance. The other acts include Carlene Davis, Kevin Downswell, Rondell Positive and Rhoda Isabella, all hand-picked because they align with the mandate of the inaugural show.
