Jamaica should send aid

Time is against those people who are still under the rubble.
I refer to the people who have been impacted by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake which struck 23km east of Nurdagi, Turkey, Gaziantep province, at a depth of 24.1 kilometers (14.9 miles), and north-west sections of Syria, according to the United States Geological Survey.
As at February 14, 2023 the death toll stood at over 40,000 people.
Kahramanamaras is the Turkish city closest to the epicentre of the devastating earthquake. The earthquake also severely affected sections of Syria as they are bordering states. Historically, both countries have had complex political relations, but despite that, they need assistance.
Although Jamaica has not had much bilateral relations with either of the countries, I believe it should send aid. The assistance is desperately needed.
An earthquake is not planned, it is a natural disaster; therefore, I believe Jamaica, despite having its own issues, should join the international community rescue efforts. This would help restore normality within the region as well as help to enhance diplomatic relations among Jamaica, Turkey, and Syria.
Let’s keep the people of Turkey and Syria in our prayers.
