Dispute between brothers leaves one dead in Clarendon
CLARENDON, Jamaica — A longstanding dispute between two brothers reportedly claimed the life of the younger sibling on Tuesday following a heated argument in Ebony Park, Clarendon.
Reports are that about 9:15 am, Anthony ‘Pops’ Smikle, a 37-year-old mason of the community was allegedly stabbed to death by his 39-year-old brother of the said address.
It is reported that both brothers had an argument, which developed into an altercation. A tussle ensued and the elder sibling allegedly used a knife to stab Smikle all over his upper body.
He was rushed to the May Pen Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Sources say both brothers had a longstanding dispute and were not on good terms. It is alleged that the deceased previously attacked the accused with his friends and had beaten him. However, no official report was made to the police.
The accused was later held at his house by the police and taken into custody.
