St James Under-13 football kicks off today

TUCKER, St James — The St James Football Association Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 football competition is set to kick off this morning with a double-header at Wespow Park, with the first game set to start at 10:30 am.

Twenty-four schools are scheduled to take part in the competition that will see the first round being played in four zones and is scheduled to end in early June.

It will be the first time the competition will be played since 2019 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but a condensed competition was played last year with invited schools.

Four former winners, including Granville Primary who won the last three stagings of the VMBS sponsored competition, will play in today’s opening games.

Granville and Howard Cooke will play in a Zone A game set to start at 10:30 am followed by Barracks Road Primary and Chetwood Primary in Zone C set to start at 11:45 am.

Teams that are also in Zone A are Anchovy Primary, Montego Bay Prep, Somerton Primary and Dumfries Primary.

The Zone B teams are Corinaldi Avenue, Lethe Primary, Flankers Primary, Irwin Primary, Barrett Town Primary, and Mt Salem Primary; Zone C will be contested by Adelphi Primary, Green Pond Primary, Maldon Primary and Albion Primary, while Zone D includes Catherine Hall, St James Prep, Success Primary, Farm Primary, Buckingham Primary, and Pinnacle Academy.
