The Sickest Drama pleased with response to Luxury Tax EP
Jamaica-based hip hop artiste The Sickest Drama (TSD) is pleased with the feedback to his debut LP “Luxury Tax” which was released on April 15th.
“I’m stepping outside the box, thinking differently and innovating with each song on this album. Massy (a producer) blessed me with an incredible arrangement that challenged me to find new pockets of creativity; I really appreciate him as a producer on this project,” TSD explained.
TSD brings an action packed array of lyrical skills and social commentary from a uniquely Third World perspective with this creative tour de force of a project. He released the Massy the Creator-produced single, White Noise, as the lead single, with the hope of galvanising the local hip hop scene.
“I want to make a statement with this album. It’s time to embrace the dawn of a new age,” TSD said.
Producers on the album include : Dizzy The Ill One, Massy The Creator, DamienBeatz, WolvesDen, and Justin Jay Beatz. The project was engineered, mixed and mastered by: SpaceAgeRasta.
Dizzy The Ill One is the executive producer on the album as a whole.
TSD has been active on the Kingston scene since 2005, when he returned home after living abroad for years. He is known in local circles for such projects as “Hiroshima” (2003) with Inztinkz and the “Wildcard” mixtape (2007) courtesy of Gambling House Records.
During his self-imposed hiatus since 2009, TSD has been active as part of community building initiatives for local rappers which culminated in 2013’s #PayAttention movement – the first consistent hip-hop show in Kingston run by members of the community.
“It’s been a while since they heard from me, sometimes real life gets in the way, but the passion never waned,” he said.
