Flankers beat Barracks Road to advance to U-13 final
TUCKER, St James — Flankers Primary upset favourites Barracks Road Primary to advance to the final of the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Uplift Under-13 competition, after the resumption of their aborted semi-final game played at WesPow Park on Friday.
Two late goals stunned the previously unbeaten Barracks Road as Flankers Primary won 3-1, after they had resumed at 1-1 with seven minutes left to be played when rain interrupted the game on Tuesday.
Flankers Primary will now meet former champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary in next Wednesday’s final to be played at WesPow Park, after Barracks Road and Green Pond meet in the third-place game.
On Tuesday, Shavar Blake had given Barracks Road the lead in the 34th minute while Everald Lindsay had replied for Flankers Primary in the 41st minute, before the interruption in the 53rd minute.
On Friday Kashane Beckford gave Flankers the lead in the 58th minute before Jouvaine Clarke added a security goal in time added.
Corinaldi Avenue Primary had beaten Green Pond Primary 1-0 in their semi-final game, Shevaun Brown converting a penalty in the 30th minute.
