Byron Messia’s Talibans enters Billboard Hot 100 chart

Byron Messia’s summer hit Talibans has entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #99. This is the first time in two years that a Jamaican has scored an entry on the all-genre Hot 100 chart.

The last Jamaican to enter the Hot 100 chart was Skillibeng. In May 2021 a remix of his hit Crocodile Teeth, with Nicki Minaj, entered and peaked at #100.

Byron Messia continues his hot streak, making inroads on several charts globally. On Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Talibans steps up from #36 to #32, while inching up from #16 to #15 on Rap Airplay.

Over on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Talibans cruises from #29 to #26, while moving up from #33 to #31 on Rhythmic Airplay Top 40.

Outside of the United States, Talibans debuts at #74 on the Irish Singles chart, while the remix of Talibans featuring Afrobeats star Burna Boy debuts at #18 on the Nigeria Hot 100 Singles chart.

In the United Kingdom, Talibans shoots from #29 to #12 on the UK Singles chart, while stepping up from #13 to #5 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart.

Meanwhile, over on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Byron Messia’s album No Love rises to a new peak, bolting from #9 to #3.

Still on the Billboard Reggae albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers clock 185 non-consecutive weeks at #1 with Legend.

Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is firm at #2, while Stick Figure posts back-to-back entries with Wisdom, World on Fire, and Set in Stone at #4, #5, and #6, respectively.

Greatest Hits by UB40 rebounds from #8 to #7, while Sean Paul has Dutty Classics Collection and Dutty Rock at #8 and #9.

Stick Figure’s Burial Ground re-enters the chart at #10.

Wind Me Up, the collaboration between American inspirational singer Dante Bowe and reggae artiste Anthony B, inches up from #16 to #15 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Moving now to regional charts, Afrobeat Medley by The Greaves Brothers spends a third week at #1 on the South Florida Reggae chart. Meanwhile, Guiltiness by Ed Robinson debuts at #25.

Old Soul by Stephen Marley continues to hold down the #1 spot on the New York Reggae chart. Old Time Reggae by Vernon Maytone enters at #29.
