Morimoto, who has two outings under his belt so far this season, could be cherry ripe to lead home competitors in the second staging of the $1.25-million Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy feature race on today’s eighth-race schedule.

After a nearly one-year hiatus, the Anthony Nunes trainee returned to competitive racing on September 2, finishing sixth behind Rojorn Di Pilot down the straight.

Morimoto subsequently returned on September 30 and finished third over seven furlongs (1,400m) behind I Realise and Rainsville. Morimoto pursued I Realise from four furlongs (800m) away but lost ground in deep stretch to finish two-and-a-half lengths behind the winner.

Morimoto, who was bred by Casual Trick out of the Burning Marque mare Luckybegood, showed improvement in his last run, indicating that he is nearly back to his best. Morimoto, at his best, could easily demolish this field on any given day.

A winner of four races from 11 career starts, Morimoto has worked tirelessly in preparation for this race. Morimoto galloped four furlongs out of the straight in 49.0 seconds on Saturday, October 21, demonstrating his preparation for competition.

The Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward going six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m) is positioned as the final event on the day, with a post time of 4:50 pm. First race is at 12:15 pm.

Power Ranking and Sunset Silhoutte are expected to run very good races and could extend Morimoto to his maximum here.

Power Ranking has finished in second place in his last four races. He ran over this distance on July 9 when he was just beaten by three-parts of a length by Green Gold Rush and if he can reproduce that effort then he should be a dangerous contender here. Power Ranking is as fit as a fiddle, and given his fine form he could go one better here.

Meanwhile, Sunset Silhoutte is a very consistent filly who always puts in a good effort when she is raced. Sunset Silhoutte was second by 13¼ lengths behind the much-improved Rani Bangala over one mile on October 15, but with fitness and consistency on her side, another good effort is expected from her here.

Of the rest of runners in the 13-horse field, maybe Rainsville, Get A Pepsi, and Brinks could put in telling efforts.
