Met Service issues severe weather alert for Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Meteorological Service has issued a severe weather alert for Jamaica which will remain in effect until 5:00am on Tuesday.
The weather service said that there is a large area of low pressure which is forecasted to emerge over the southwestern Caribbean Sea by the middle of the week.
“This area of disturbed weather has a moderate probability to develop into a tropical depression and move northeastward across the western and central Caribbean Sea,” Met Service said in a statement on Monday.
It added that in the event the system develops as projected Jamaica is likely to experience severe weather conditions.
The Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation.
