Man charged with murder of cop and wounding of vendor in St Ann
ST ANN, Jamaica – Police have charged a man in relation to the shooting death of a policeman and the wounding of a woman in St Ann’s Bay, St Ann on Monday April 15.
Constable Ricardo Fairclough was shot and killed after he intervened in the robbery of a vendor around 8:25 pm along Bravo Street.

Charged with murder and several other offenses is 29-year-old Oshane Davis, unemployed of Bamboo Spring in Trelawny.
Lawmen say Davis, who was wounded in the altercation, was charged following a question-and-answer session.
He was also charged with shooting with intent, possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
His court date is being arranged.
According to the police, Davis and two other men pounced upon the vendor and opened fire hitting her to the face and upper body.
The lawmen say while making their escape they were confronted by Fairclough during which an exchange of gunfire ensued and Fairclough received gunshot wounds to the chest.
During the incident Davis received gunshot wounds to his abdomen and left hand.
Fairclough and the wounded vendor were rushed to the St Ann’s Bay hospital where Fairclough died on arrival and the vendor admitted for treatment.
Sleuths say Davis was taken to the Falmouth Hospital by his cronies and was later arrested and charged following investigations.
Another of the alleged gunmen, Siraldo Butler, otherwise called ‘Siri’, was fatally shot by lawmen following Fairclough’s death.
Police say an operation was launched to apprehend Butler following the murder of their colleague. It is reported that lawmen carried out an operation in Snake Lane, Steer Town in the parish in search of Butler, who engaged the lawmen in an armed confrontation and was fatally shot.
