#ParisOlympics: Yona Knight-Wisdom into 3m springboard semis

Jamaica’s Yona Knight-Wisdom qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 3m springboard diving competition at the Olympic Games as he finished 14th after the preliminaries with 382.90 points at the Aquatics Centre in Paris on Tuesday morning.

The 29 year-old Knight-Wisdom who overcame injuries to qualify for his third Olympics was making it to the semi-finals for the second time and first since his first Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.

The UK-based athlete had his best individual score in the fourth round when he was awarded 73.10 points by the judges for his forward 2 ½ Somersaults with two twist in the pike position, a dive that carries a 3.4 degree of difficulty.

He also scored 72.85 on his opening dive, a forward 3 ½ Somersaults in the pike position, a dive that saw him in sixth position after the first round.

He appeared disappointed with his efforts in the fifth round where he scored only 43.75 on the reverse 3 ½ Somersaults in the tuck position, a dive that carries a 3.5 degree of difficulty, his most difficult dive of the competition.
