King FA win St Ann Major League

ST ANN, Jamaica — King Football Academy were crowned kings of the St Ann Football Association Major League after beating Black Stars 2-1 in the final played at Drax Hall on Thursday.

This was Black Stars’ first loss of the season, while King FA were winning back- to-back titles after clinching the Division One last season and earning a promotion.

King FA qualified for the Jamaica Football Championships qualifier which is expected to start next weekend.

King FA got an early lead, thanks to an own goal in the third minute before Daniel Reid added a second in the 52nd minute.

Shamari Haughton pulled a goal back in the 86th minute but Black Stars failed in their comeback bid.

Outgoing champions Exchange United came from behind to beat Moneague FC 2-1 in the third place play-offs, also played on Thursday.

Tevin ‘Kangaroo’ Maine gave Moneague FC the lead in the 23rd minute with his league leading ninth goal of the season.

Gawaine Taylor equalised for Exchange United when he scored in the 52nd minute before Raheem Wilson scored the winner in the 82nd minute.
