Inaugural B.R.U.V. Music Festival to feature veteran sound systems on Saturday
Created to provide a unique entertainment experience that pays homage to nostalgia while celebrating the golden eras of reggae, dancehall, and retro sounds, the inaugural staging of B.R.U.V. (Best Retro with Ultimate Vibe) Music Festival, scheduled to take place this Saturday, April 18, at the Police Officers’ Club on Hope Road in St Andrew.
According to event promoter Mansa Musa, “It’s about reconnecting audiences with timeless music, authentic vibes, and the cultural essence that shaped today’s sound.”
B.R.U.V. is promoted by Golden Music Entertainment. It joins a list of established retro-themed events like Footloose, Mello Vibes, Strictly 2K, and Yesterday Best of the 90s, which continue to garner widespread support.
“Retro music has a timeless appeal,” said Mansa Musa. It carries memories, emotions, and shared experiences that transcend generations. It reminds people of simpler times, authentic storytelling, and real musical craftsmanship. That emotional connection naturally brings people together, creating a sense of unity, nostalgia, and pure enjoyment on the dance floor. Festivals built around retro sounds tap into that collective feeling, which is why they resonate so strongly with diverse audiences.”
Veteran sounds Metro Media, Renaissance Disco, and Stone Love have been tasked to take patrons on a musical journey back in time.
“The vision is for B.R.U.V Music Festival to evolve into an annual fixture on the entertainment calendar. The long-term goal is to build a strong brand that patrons can look forward to each year, while continuously growing the experience, expanding the line-up, and attracting both local and international audiences,” Mansa Musa shared.
He added: “This festival was born out of my love for music from past generations. It’s about unity, nostalgia, and creating a space where people can relive those feel-good moments together. Patrons can expect powerful performances from three of the industry’s most iconic sound systems… collectively boasting over 150 years of musical excellence. With crisp sound, immersive retro visuals, and a vibrant atmosphere, the festival is designed to deliver authenticity and energy that transcends generations.”
The event will be hosted by Lady Timry of Irie FM.
There will be a cash prize of $100,000 for the Best Dressed Female.
