As someone who has jumped with other bands in prior years, having just played mas with Xodus Carnival, I felt compelled to share my experience as a masquerader and highlight what I believe sets this band apart.

From the very beginning, the level of preparedness was evident. Costume collection, often one of the more stressful parts of the Carnival experience, was handled with impressive efficiency. The process was smooth, well-organised, and clearly communicated, allowing masqueraders to get in and out without confusion or long delays.

On the road, that same attention to detail continued. Security was consistently visible and professional, not only at the events leading up to Carnival, but especially during Road March. There was a reassuring sense of safety throughout which allowed everyone to focus on enjoying the experience without concern. The road marshalls really held it down on Sunday.

Another standout was how smooth it was to get meals. Whether at lunch or dinner, food distribution was seamless. There were no chaotic lines or shortages, just a steady, well- managed flow that kept masqueraders energised and satisfied throughout the day. Also, the variety of food was amazing, not to mention the different sponsor booths that were giving out food, snacks, drinks, and much-needed electrolytes.

The diversity of the DJs deserves special mention also. Each set brought its own unique sound, blending with other genres in a way that kept the energy high and the crowd fully engaged. The DJs gave their all in ensuring the massive crowd was entertained during both the morning and evening sessions.

The route itself was, in my view, one of the best any band could have chosen. It struck the perfect balance between excitement and manageability, giving us enough space to move freely while still delivering that vibrant, high-energy Carnival atmosphere.

What made the experience much more amazing for me were the performances along the road. These moments created pockets of excitement that kept the momentum going and gave us something extra to look forward to beyond the music trucks.

All in all, Xodus Carnival delivered an experience that felt thoughtfully curated from start to finish. It’s clear that significant effort went into planning every detail, and as a result, we were able to simply enjoy the road, the music, and the spirit of Carnival.

Safe to say, I will be back on the road next year with Xodus.
