Fashion Radar: The Clothing Finery

Tuesday Style Fashion (TSF) pops into The Clothing Finery for this week’s spotlight on retailers. Under the fashion radar today is principal Sherone Lindsay.

TSF: When/How/Where did The Clothing Finery story begin?

SL: The Clothing Finery began as an idea in 2018 while I was in college. A friend once pointed out that I was always dressed up and naturally into fashion, and asked me, “Why not sell the pieces you wear?” That simple comment sparked something.

At first, it was just a small side hustle selling a few pieces here and there, nothing serious. But everything shifted in 2020 during the pandemic. While we were all at home, we leaned into loungewear, and that collection really resonated with women. It was a turning point for the brand.

Through Instagram, we began growing rapidly. What started as a small idea evolved into a strong online presence and more importantly, a real community. Over the past six years, from 2020 to present, The Clothing Finery has grown steadily not just as a fashion brand, but as a space for confident, stylish women to feel seen and empowered.

Today, it’s more than just selling clothes. It’s about building a supportive community and creating pieces that make women feel bold, feminine, and confident in their everyday lives.

TSF: How did your own journey in retail commence?

SL: My journey in retail started at home. My mother and aunt were both hustlers who sold items, so I was exposed early to buying and selling.

I later earned a business degree, which gave me a formal foundation, but I also invested in learning beyond school, taking classes, attending trade shows, and learning through online resources.

When I began selling, I focused on pieces I naturally wore and understood, which helped me create for a specific niche. Over time, I learned everything from buying patterns to building strong customer relationships.

TSF: What has kept you in the industry?

SL: What has kept me in the industry are both passion and purpose. I genuinely love fashion, but even more than that, I love how it makes women feel. Seeing our Fyne Gyals confident and excited in pieces we curate is incredibly fulfilling.

Being a part of their memorable moments, whether it’s birthdays, brunches, vacations, or special events, reminds me that we’re not just selling clothes. We’re contributing to experiences.

The growth of our community, building relationships, seeing repeat customers, and watching the brand evolve from a small idea into a recognised name has kept me driven.

TSF: How have you maintained relevance in such a competitive environment?

SL: While there is a lot of competition in the clothing market, we don’t operate with a robotic mindset. Our customers know they are genuinely welcomed, valued, and appreciated. Customer service is important, and we prioritise creating a warm, engaging experience both online and in person.

Engaging consistently on Instagram and listening to our Fyne Gyal Tribe has been key. We study buying patterns, restock what performs well, and create demand by understanding exactly what our niche wants. That authenticity has helped us maintain relevance.

Most importantly, we’ve built a strong brand identity. It’s not just about selling clothes it’s about the experience, the energy, and the community that comes with The Clothing Finery.

The market is large, and there’s room for everyone, but we are confident that The Clothing Finery has carved out its own space and secured its piece of the pie.

TSF: What can customers look forward to from The Clothing Finery in 2026?

SL: In 2026, our Fyne Gyals can look forward to fresh, timeless pieces that make them feel confident and seen. We’re bringing exclusive drops, new collections, and more ways for our community to connect. This year is all about growth, energy, and keeping The Clothing Finery at the heart of unforgettable moments.

TSF: Finally, what are a few season must-haves?

SL: • Chic mini spring dresses, versatile and flirty for any occasion

• Cool, casual grab-and-go sets. Effortless style for everyday outings and the hot days.

• Spring colours: Butter yellow, light blue, and pink are fresh, and on trend

• Fun prints: Polka dots and stripes to add personality

• Denim pieces: Rompers, jumpsuits, oversized pants for a timeless style.
