PTD edge MOESYI to win 2026 JCSA domino title
In a tense, unpredictable contest during which both teams refused to give up, the Post and Telecommunications Department (PTD) defeated the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth, and Information (MOESYI) in sudden death to claim the 2026 Jamaica Civil Service Association (JSCA) domino competition on Friday.
Played at Jacisera Park on Molynes Road, the match was tight from start to finish. At no point could anyone declare a winner, as the teams traded blows. Neither led by more than four points at any point.
At the halfway mark, MOESYI held a one-point advantage. By full time, the scores were locked at 58 apiece. The tension in the room was palpable, with no winner decided. The match went to a one-table play-off, best of three.
PTD took the first game, MOESYI answered in the second, and the decider came down to a nerve-racking final game. PTD held their nerve to close it out and take the title.
Stephanie McGregor Gayle, co-chair of the JCSA Sports Committee, said this year’s competition was highly competitive and engaging, bringing teams together in the true spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
“PTD emerged as champions after defeating MOESYI, while the AGD [Accountant General’s Department] secured third place,” McGregor Gayle noted.
She added that the competition showcased exceptional skill and teamwork, while also strengthening fellowship and unity among members across the civil service.
In the third-place play-off, the AGD defeated the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) 58-52. AGD started on fire, winning the first seven games and leaving KSAMC flat-footed—a deficit they never recovered from.
Davion Davidson, President of the AGD Sports and Social Club, said this year’s competition was a testament to the resilience of the AGD Domino Team. “The team is not only committed but has the talent to excel further. Congratulations on the relative success of third place and the future will only get greater. Kudos to the team always and commendation goes out to how the team reacted to each adversary faced,” he said.
