Lookalike dances into new spaces
Fast-rising Jamaican dancer Lookalike hopes to travel the world, teaching Jamaica’s dancehall culture and signature dance moves to other nations.
Dancing has taken him all over the island, performing on some of the biggest stages in Jamaica such as Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay and Dream Weekend in Negril.
He was discovered by popular dancer Colo Colo and would hang out with him at Half-Way-Tree Skateland before attending weekly events to dance for patrons, dancing for more than ten years now.
Lookalike was born Dexroy Sheldon Myrie and grew up in the inner-city community of Waterhouse.
At first his interest was football, going by the moniker “Skillachi” during those formative years. Then, he discovered dancing and fell in love.
Lookalike has entered several competitions, winning most, which led to his career choice.
He has performed at various school fetes and parties where he entertained his peers with his slick moves.
As with most dancers in Jamaica, Lookalike was influenced by the late great dancer Bogle, also known as Mr Wacky, due to his unique and innovative styles.
He is a part of the popular dance crew the GetThereSquad, and has worked with a few big names in dancehall, such as Beenie Man, Skeng, Popcaan, Elephant Man, Munga Honorable, Teejay, Harry Toddler, and fellow dancer turned artiste Chi Ching Ching.
Lookalike has ambitions to work with Sean Paul.
He has also created his own dance move called
Look Out.
With his sights on touring overseas, his first show in Canada will be at the Starlife Evening Brunch on July 5, 2026.
Lookalike wants to spread positive vibes through dancing. He encourages the younger generation to put their all in whatever they love doing, to believe in God and themselves, and not to let anything or anyone stop them from pursuing their dreams.
