Danville Walker steps down from West Indies Petroleum, heads to lead Petrojam
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Observer Online understands that Danville Walker has resigned as senior vice president of energy company West Indies Petroleum.
Walker will take up leadership of the state-owned oil refinery, Petrojam, as its managing director this week Wednesday, July 1.
The former director of elections has also resigned from all positions connected to West Indies Petroleum and its affiliates.
Walker stated in a letter this week to the company’s chief executive officer Charles Chambers that he is officially leaving his roles at West Indies Petroleum at the end of June.
“I hereby tender my resignation from my position as Senior Vice President of West Indies Petroleum Limited (“WIP”) which shall be effective June 30, 2026. In addition, I also resign from all positions held within WIP’s subsidiaries listed below as well as any, affiliates, associated companies, and or related entities; such resignation also being effective on June 30, 2026: WIP Energy Limited (“WIP Energy”), West Indies Petroleum Terminal Limited (“WIP Terminal”) and West Indies Petroleum South Terminal Limited”, Walker stated in his letter.
He wrote that he has also submitted his resignation from the Board of Directors of WIP Energy to its chairman and has fully disposed of all legal & beneficial interests in the St Lucian IBC known as World Energy Solutions Ltd which currently holds shares in WIP Terminal.
“For the avoidance of doubt, effective June 30, 2026, I shall cease to hold, exercise, or represent any authority, responsibility, fiduciary duty, management function, signing authority, or decision-making role on behalf of the above-mentioned entities or any other entity within or related to the WIP Group”, Walker commented.
Walker said he can further confirm that he will cooperate fully to facilitate an orderly transition of his duties and responsibilities.
“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the board, management, employees, business partners, and stakeholders for the opportunity to serve the organisation and contribute to its growth and development. I remain committed to ensuring a smooth handover of all matters under my responsibility during the transition period”, he stated as he wished West Indies Petroleum and its affiliated entities continued success.
A letter from an attorney for West Indies Petrojam which was sent to the chairman of the Board of Petrojam, Metry Seaga, also reiterated Walker has stepped down from all positions connected to West Indies Petroleum and its affiliates.
Walker is a former commissioner of customs, director of elections and managing director of the Jamaica Observer Limited.
