United Jamdown brings together two artistes whose careers have been shaped by the long-standing connection between UK underground music and Jamaican dancehall culture.

Linking South London’s MC Fizzy — Genius Cru member and one of the voices behind the UK Garage anthem Boom Selection — with veteran Jamaican dancehall artiste General Degree, the project reflects decades of shared musical influence between London and Kingston.

Emerging during the golden era of UK Garage, MC Fizzy helped define a key moment in British music culture as part of Genius Cru, the collective responsible for one of the scene’s most recognisable crossover records.

While Garage introduced his name to a wider audience, his sound has always carried strong influence from dancehall, reggae, jungle, and drum and bass, shaped by London’s multicultural sound system culture and pirate radio era.

General Degree established himself as one of dancehall’s standout voices throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, building an internationally recognised catalogue through his distinctive delivery, lyrical charisma, and ability to move effortlessly between hardcore dancehall energy and crossover appeal. His contribution to Jamaican music helped define an important era in the genre’s global rise.

Built between London bass culture and Jamaica’s dancehall foundations, United Jamdown blends UK Garage, reggae, drum and bass, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms into a project rooted in authenticity and shared musical heritage. Rather than forcing genres together, the EP reflects the natural relationship these sounds have shared for decades through carnival culture, clubs, pirate radio, and sound systems on both sides of the Atlantic.
