Traffic cop dies in Clarendon crash
CLARENDON, Jamaica— A 32-year-old police constable succumbed to injuries he sustained in a crash on the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon on Friday morning.
He has been identified as Constable Shavaine Davy, assigned to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) in the Corporate Area.
Davy, a native of Craighead in northern Manchester, previously worked with the Department of Correctional Services.
The Toyota Premio motorcar that Constable Shavaine Davy overturned on the Bustamante Highway.
Preliminary reports are that shortly before 5:00 am, Davy was driving a Toyota Premio motorcar on the Bustamante Highway when, upon reaching the vicinity of Swansea, he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it overturning.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
