JAMAICAN media got an exclusive look at the Porsche Cayenne electric on Wednesday, August 26, at the Innovation Gallery at AC Hotel Kingston.

The interior features the technology and luxury the Cayenne is known for.

The event preceded the vehicle’s official public launch at Trident Hotel, Portland, on Saturday, August 29.

That legacy enters a new chapter with the introduction of the all-new Porsche Cayenne electric. This is where two worlds come together with instant performance and the efficiency of electric mobility, of course, with the unmistakable driving experience of Porsche,” Shauwn Gracey, sales manager, Porsche Jamaica, said during the media exclusive.

Using a 113kWh battery with an 800-volt charging architecture allows the Porsche Cayenne to charge at up to 390kWh and have a range of over 600km.

The Cayenne electric represents the third battery electric vehicle for the brand, joining the Taycan and the Macan electric. Built on an advanced evolution of the Premium Platform Electric, the Cayenne electric is longer than its combustion-engined counterpart, the majority of which can be found in its wheelbase. This increases interior volume. Visually, most will immediately notice the movable cooling flaps in the nose. They are part of an active aerodynamic strategy that endows the Cayenne with a drag co-efficient of 0.25. There are 13 standard colours, and nine wheel designs ranging from 20 to 23-inch.

The new Cayenne electric is longer than the combustion-engined model with the large majority of that increase within the wheelbase.

Porsche Jamaica unveiled the standard Cayenne electric, with a turbo trim available. Underneath the bodywork is a brand-new 113kWh high-voltage battery using an 800-volt architecture to drive two motors, one front, the other at the rear, for all-wheel drive. In standard trim, the Cayenne electric generates 442bhp and 616lb/ft of torque, can hit 100km/h in 4.8 seconds using the launch control, and has a 230km/h top speed. Turbo buyers can expect 1,156bhp and 1,106lb/ft of torque. Maximum range is rated at 542km.

The all-electric platform gives the Porsche Cayenne eectric luggage capacity up to 1,588 litres, including the 90-litre frunk.

The Cayenne electric can DC fast charge at up to 390kWh, going from 10 to 80 per cent in 16 minutes or adding 300+km of range in 10 minutes when possible. It can regen up to 600kW using braking and coasting strategies. Air suspension is standard, as is rear-axle steer for high-speed agility and low-speed manoeuvrability.

As for technology and luxury, there are five interior packages, with over a dozen sub-combinations of materials and colours. New for the Cayenne electric is the Porsche Driver Experience led by the Flow Display, a curved OLED panel for the centre infotainment screen. Drivers get a 14.25-inch OLED screen for instrumentation, while the optional passenger display is 14.9-inches. All allow control of the 10-speaker BOSE surround sound system. Mood Modes is also new, giving occupants a one touch method to set all their interior requirements.

The Porsche Cayenne electric has more rear legroom and comfort for the passengers in the back than ever before due to an additional 13cm of space.
