Sagicor Foundation fêtes adopted schools
SAGICOR Foundation truly embodied the holiday spirit when they treated their three adopted schools to a Christmas party on December 15. Students at the three basic schools under the Adopt-A-School programme — Haughton Grove Early Childhood Institution in Ramble, Hanover; D’Frank Early Childhood Institution in Greenvale, Manchester; and AME Basic School in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, enjoyed a fun-filled day with plenty of sweet treats, games, rides and gifts.
Like Santa’s little helpers, Sagicor Foundation volunteers were on hand to help with the various activities for the children. They eagerly assisted with face painting, games, rides, lunch and distribution of gifts, happily lightening the load of the teachers and principals. The volunteers were mostly from parishes where the schools are located and were very enthused to give back to their communities.
“As part of Sagicor Foundation’s Adopt-A-School programme, we want to fully engage our schools throughout the year to ensure that they feel our presence and also feel a part of the Sagicor family, and what better way to close off the year than by treating the children during the festive season to a Christmas party,” said Ingrid Card, executive director, Sagicor Foundation and vice-president, group marketing at Sagicor Group Jamaica.
The three schools were adopted by the Sagicor Foundation for the 2017/2018 academic school year. Throughout this period, the organisation will carry out major renovation and refurbishing works based on assessments done at each school to ascertain their needs, as well as recommendations made by the Early Childhood Commission.
