Lisa’s Swift Styling

“Lisa is an artist”, “She is really swift, and very good at what she does”, “Whenever I leave her salon I always feel very pretty”… with comments like these, how could we not take a trip to Lisa’s Full Service Salon. Our Under the Dryer team watched the ‘artist’ Lisa Hutchinson at work, creating chic styles for six clients in just over an hour. We were quite amazed at how adept she was. Here are the results.

Carolyn Yap – Sleek ‘n’ Chic

Carolyn is also growing out a recent haircut, though she is happy with the length of her hair at present. She has naturally curly hair, but prefers to wear it straight and silky smooth. She has an appointment in an hour, so she pops in for a quick visit to her capable stylist. A smiling Lisa gets to work right away.

The Routine:

To create the ‘dead straight’ look that Carolyn desires, Lisa first blow-dries her hair with a round brush before misting her tresses with Alfaparf Cristalli Liquidi smoothing hair polisher. This, she says, allows her hair to retain its movement and enhances its sheen for a sleek look without weighing her hair down. Lisa then uses a ceramic flat iron to style her hair for a sleek ‘n’ chic finish.

Carolyn’s Take:

“I’ve been going to Lisa since earlier this year, my hair was totally damaged so I needed a haircut, and one of my customers told me about Lisa. She did an amazing job, and is still doing a great job even though I’m in that awkward stage of growing my hair back. Her salon is very clean and chic, and she’s always there which is very important to me, NyloraC approved!”

Alicia Dixon — Pixie with a twist

Alicia sports a very trendy, short ‘do, which Lisa describes as “a traditional pixie cut with a twist”. She stops by today for a quick shampoo and style job before heading back to work, and Lisa has little time to complete the task at hand, so she immediately gets to it.

The Routine:

The knowledgeable stylist alternates between Mixed Chicks and Elucence shampoo and conditioner for Alicia’s hair, ahead of wrapping and placing her under the dryer for 15 minutes. When this is complete, she spritzes her tresses with Redken Smooth Down for a sleek finish and Matrix Essentials Sleek Look for protection against heat damage. She then styles her hair with a fine, barrel-heated curling iron. Redken Headplay 12 Pliable Working System is then misted onto her tresses for a light, natural hold.

Alicia’s Take:

“It’s wonderful! I feel nice, sexy and funky.”

Tamara Lake-Mair — Keratin Cuteness

Tamara’s hair is naturally curly, and though she sometimes opts for a curly look, she prefers to keep it sleek, straight and frizz-free. Lisa suggested that she tries the Global Keratin JUVENIX Brazilian treatment two weeks ago as a solution to the problem and so far, she loves it. Today she visits for a styling job, which Lisa completes in under 10 minutes.

The Routine:

Tamara’s hair is first spritzed with Redken Smooth Down for a smooth, sleek finish and Matrix Essentials Sleek Look spray for thermal styling protection. A ceramic flat iron is then used to straighten her tresses, after which she uses a headband with a rosette for ultra-feminine appeal.

Tamara’s Take:

“I love it, although it’s only been two weeks I can see where the Keratin treatment has helped my hair. I can wash and wear if I want to, it stays straight for longer, and it’s not as frizzy anymore. It also lasts 2-3 months and it washes out, so that’s good. I also love that it allows me to wear my hair in this style with my bangs without frizzing.”

Alicia Wee Tom — Silky Smooth

Alicia is now growing out a recent haircut, and she is happy with the length of her hair at present. She has naturally curly hair, but prefers to wear it straight and silky smooth. She has an appointment in an hour, so she pops in for a quick visit to her capable stylist Lisa for a shampoo and style job. A smiling Lisa gets to work right away.

The Routine:

Elucence shampoo and conditioner is first used to wash Alicia’s hair, after which Lisa spritzes her tresses with Redken Smooth Down for a sleek finish and Matrix Essentials Sleek Look for protection against heat damage, ahead of blow-drying with a round brush. When this is finished, a ceramic flat iron is used to style her hair for a silky smooth look.

Alicia’s Take:

“I like it. It’s a nice length, it’s cute, not very difficult to manage, and I can do a number of different styles with it.”

Brittany Banbury — Edgy Angles

Brittany is very happy with her hair. She decided on a drastic change from the long, curly look she previously sported to a cropped, angled ‘do which Lisa created in July. Today she visits for a regular shampoo and style which Lisa swiftly executes.

The Routine:

Lisa uses Redken Smooth Down Shampoo and Conditioner to wash Brittany’s hair, after which Redken Smooth Down Leave-in Conditioner is then misted onto her tresses for a smooth finish. Her hair is then blow-dried with a round brush, and Matrix Essentials Sleek Look is spritzed over her mane for thermal protection before a ceramic flat iron is used to style her edgy angled bob.

Brittany’s Take:

“I like it! It’s more sophisticated, easier to manage and it affords me the opportunity to style it more. When it was long and curly I had the tendency to wear it in a bun very often and now I can’t do that, so I like it.”

Paula McKay — Cropped ‘n’ Chic

Paula is a very busy woman who always wants to look her best. Luckily for her, she has a stylist with adept hands who understands the need to get in and out of the styling chair… fast. Lisa has only half-an-hour to create a chic look and immediately takes on the challenge.

The Routine:

Lisa first spritzes her tresses with Redken Smooth Down Leave-in Conditioner for a smooth finish and a little of the Matrix Essentials Sleek Look is lightly misted over her hair as well for protection from the heat. She quickly works a dollop of Optimum Care Anti-Breakage Therapy Moisture Replenish Cream Hairdress through her hair strands ahead of using a medium, barrel-heated curling iron to style her cropped cut. The fab ‘do was complete in a little over 12 minutes.

Paula’s Take:

“Lisa is an artist, she moves very fast! She knows what I want, she knows what she’s doing and I always leave here with a unique style, despite the cut.

I always feel very pretty when I leave here, especially because I know that no one else’s hair will look like mine.
