Wesrok teams up with Busy Signal for his first single of 2024. It is the country singer’s latest collaboration with a dancehall artiste as he tries to broaden his base.

Don’t Get me Wrong is the name of their song, released in January. Produced by 360 Global Entertainment, it hears Wesrok and Busy Signal calling for a more selfless society while hailing heroes like Martin Luther King Jr.

Previously, Wesrok collaborated with Masicka and Laa Lee on Try to Hold Me and There’s A Party, respectively. The link with Busy Signal, he told Observer Online, came through Big Yard Studio with which the singjay is associated.

“Working with ‘Busy’ was easy, he is calm and is a committed artiste. That provides a good chemistry for quality work,” he said.

The Bog Walk-born Wesrok also acknowledged his East Indian heritage by recording a remix to his song, Perfectly Imperfect, late last year. That remix was done by DJ AKS, a Bangladeshi producer based in Dubai, who has done similar projects for Enrique Iglesias, Big Mountain and electronic dance acts based on the sub-continent.

Wesrok believes that move justified his decision to expand beyond country songs and Jamaica.

“Now my songs are being played by a few Indian Djs, so we will see what happens. I am also looking at putting out an EP in early March and a few singles before that date. All in all, 2024 looks great,” he said.

A former member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Wesrok began recording four years ago. His initial songs, such as Poor Country Boy and Born As A Winner, reflected his strong American country music influences.

His EP, Look At Me Now, was released in April 2021. In 2022, Wesrok made his debut on Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay.
