Forsythe, Phillips, Calvert win in Germany
MARIO Forsythe, Richard Phillips and Schillonie Calvert posted wins last Saturday at the DAK international meeting in Wattenscheid, Germany.
Forsythe, 24, clocked 10.17 seconds to snatch the 100m, ahead of 2003 world champion from St Kitts and Nevis, Kim Collins, 10.20 seconds, with another Jamaican Ainsley Waugh third in 10.25 seconds.
Forsythe has won his seventh individual race this year and fell just short of his personal best 10.16 seconds set last July in Leverkusen, also in Germany.
Twenty-seven-year-old Phillips, a Beijing Olympic finalist, took the 110m hurdles in a season-best 13.52 seconds, to outrun Czech Republic’s Petr Svoboda, 13.53 seconds, and Germany’s Matthias Bühler, 13.55 seconds.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Calvert, a World Youth Championship bronze medallist, made up for her disqualification in the 100m won by German Verena Sailer (11.29 seconds) to capture the 200m in a 23.13 seconds, equalling her personal best.
Earlier, Calvert placed third in heat three of the 100m in 11.45 seconds.
Last Friday at the Stanislas Meet in Tomblaine, France, 34-year-old Vonette Dixon won the 100m hurdles in a time of 13.02 seconds, with Frenchwomen Alice Decaux second in a personal best 13.06 seconds, and Cindy Billaud third in 13.26 seconds.
