Wonderful Jamaica
Dear Editor,
Jamaica has been sold internationally as a destination filled with miles of white sand beaches, the wonderful tropical sun, beautiful nature trails, historic attractions and reggae music, but none of the ads ever mentioned the Smirnoff Dream Weekend in Negril.
I am a regular visitor to your beautiful island, but it was just this January that a co-worker of mine who recently moved to the US shared her stories of the Dream Weekend experience she had last year in celebration of her final year at a local university. She told me stories of the journey to Negril with all the food stops and barhopping, not to mention the parties which had me yearning to get in on the action.
Jamaicans know how to party and better yet, Jamaicans put on a good party.
I must commend the organisers and sponsors of the Smirnoff Dream Weekend on the set-up, organisation and excellent services at the different events. The opening concert was spectacular, Beach Rave was awesome, Daydreams was great, Yush was an experience, Extreme Wet ‘n Wild was so much fun and Smirnoff Exclusive which took the last few drops of my energy was very memorable, especially the fireworks.
Trust me, every party was top-class! My Negril experience stands in the top three among Ibiza and Las Vegas in my little black book of vacation experiences, and I am looking forward to coming back with all my friends.
I must also congratulate my now adopted motherland on her successful campaign at the London Olympics. As I write, Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Warren Weir have blazed down the 200m track to a 1-2-3 sweep.
Sad to say I have to leave Jamaica in a short while, but I am leaving with tons of great memories. Big up, Jamaica, see you next year and have a blessed 50th.
