Bolt expected to run 100m in Rome
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Six-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt is expected to line up in the men’s 100m at the Rome Diamond League Thursday, following a slow return to form after injury.
Bolt suffered a slight hamstring injury in late April and has since only competed at the Cayman Invitational on May 8.
While Bolt won the Cayman Invitational 100m it was clear that the triple world record-holder was not at his best clocking 10.09 seconds to just hold off fellow Jamaican Kemar Bailey-Cole who was awarded the same time.
Should Bolt run in Rome, he will face his toughest competition this year in a field that could include American Justin Gatlin, who ran a wind-aided 9.88 seconds at the Oregon, US Diamond League meet over the weekend.
Former World champion Kim Collins and American Mike Rodgers are also included on the provisional list.
