Classic United are TFA President’s Cup Knockout champs

FALMOUTH, Trelawny

CLASSIC United are the champions of the Trelawny Football Association’s (TFA) President’s Cup Knockout competition after beating promoted Major League team Salt Marsh United 5-4 on sudden-death penalties in Sunday’s final at the Elliston Wakeland playfield, after the teams had played out a 0-0 regulation and extra-time score line.

Leeton Brown scored the winner for Classic United after the teams ended the first five penalty kicks locked at four-all, while Marlon Hewitt missed for Salt Marsh.

Omary Forbes, Sean Matherson, Kemnar Kellier and Kanerdo Wilson had scored for Classic before Troy Smith missed, while Travis Watson, Ramon Brown, Damaine Jackson and Nickoy Edwards scored for Salt Marsh before Nish Sterling missed to leave the teams tied-up.

The President’s Cup Knockout is the traditional season opener for the TFA.
