Fullerton shines at Burger King 7K road race

MUNRO College’s Rushane Fullerton was the only western winner at the recently held Burger King Montego Bay 7K road race that was contested from the Burger King store on Gloucester Avenue to the Freeport Police Station and back.
The 12-year-old who hails from Montego Bay won the boys 10-12 age group, completing the course in 27 minutes 50 seconds beating two Hydel High runners, Omar Francis and Aundre Dormer.
Rusea’s High School’s Stephanie Barrett was third in the girls’ 16-19 age group in 30 minutes 11 seconds.
Edwin Allen’s Marleena Eubanks, who was the overall female winner, took her third straight crown in 28 minutes 31 seconds, and Holmwood Technical’s Shanieke Watson ended in 28 minutes and 38 seconds.
Rupert Green, who missed the first two stagings of the 7K, was the overall male winner, covering the course in 23 minutes 03 seconds, beating Kirk Brown and Damion Dent.
Over 400 participants participated in the event that was open to runners and walkers, the most ever according to event organiser, Alfred Francis, who was pleased with the day’s proceedings.
“This is a good start to this half of the road race series; everything has worked out well, and all the pieces have fallen in nicely,” said Francis
