One dead, four injured in another Braco crash
BRACO, Trelawny — A man died yesterday and four other people injured in a motor vehicle collision along the Braco leg of the North Coast Highway in Trelawny.
The identity of the man could not be ascertained up to press time last night, details on the conditions of the injured were also unavailable.
Reports are that about 3:40 pm, the man was driving a white Toyota Corolla motor car along the Braco main road towards Discovery Bay when the vehicle collided with a truck that was travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the car died on the spot. Four other people, including the sideman on the truck, were injured and were rushed to hospital.
There was a drizzle in that section of the parish shortly before the accident occurred.
This section of the roadway has been the scene of several deadly crashes over the past several months. In August 2012, three people died in similar fashion on the stretch of road. That crash followed another in January of the same year which also claimed the lives of three people.
Following the August crash, then head of the Police Traffic Department, Senior Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis, explained that a heavy deposit of dust particles along that roadway may be responsible for the spate of carnage on that section of the North Coast Highway.
He said the road becomes very slippery after a drizzle on the thick layer of dust.
