SIXTY-two residents from Windsor Forest and surrounding communities in South Manchester were hosted at a health and information fair, recently.

The event, which was organised by Jamalco’s Corporate Services and Medical Departments, was held at the Windsor Forest Community Centre as part of Jamalco’s community outreach initiative.

The residents benefited from several services including vision, cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar tests conducted by Jamalco’s medical team. The residents also received information from representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Consumer Affairs Commission, National Council on Drug Abuse, Heart Trust/NTA, Child Development Agency and the Social Development Commission.

Community leader Stephanie Latchman expressed thanks to Jamalco for spearheading the initiative.

“Our deepest appreciation to Jamalco for providing us with the opportunity to know the status of our health and we would like to see more of these initiatives done in our community,” she said.

Community Relations Officer Natalee Irving said she is very pleased with the number of persons who accessed the services provided.

The information and health fair initiative forms part of Jamalco’s thrust to assist in promoting healthy lifestyles and empowering residents living in the company’s operating areas.
