AS it continues to make strides on local airwaves, the song Fake Friends by newcomer Flava Don has become a viral hit.

Videos endorsing the song have been uploaded to social media by fans in the Bahamas, France and the United States.

The singjay is overwhelmed by the support from these fans whom he has never met.

“It feels good to see your work being endorsed by people outside of Jamaica. They are genuine fans of the song because they heard it and decided to upload videos performing or dancing to it. It goes to show that music has no barriers,” said Flava Don.

Fake Friends was produced by Huntley Johnson for Connecticut-based label Zar Music.

Perry HD, a fan from the US, posted on Facebook: “I heard the song Fake Friends on the radio and I decided to do a skit. This is a big song.”

Flava Don said he has campaigned tirelessly to push Fake Friends, including getting the support of ‘street disc jockeys’ Fire Links and Supa Hype.

The 25-year-old, whose real name is Michael Cole, is from Spanish Town. He made his recording debut with Touch and Fresh two years ago and has since done songs for UIM Records, Young Vibes Productions, Kick Dem Records and Armz House Records.

A video for Fake Friends, directed by Don McGregor, is also in rotation.
