Danavan ‘Duba’ McDonald – ‘Mr Fix It’
BURNT SAVANNAH, Westmoreland — Former site manager at Dujon’s Construction, Danavan McDonald, affectionately called ‘Duba’, was laid to rest on Saturday, September 17 after an emotional service at the Church of the Nazarene in Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland.
The 48-year-old was remembered as a hard worker and a great friend, especially by his boss Deon Dujon, chief executive officer of Dujon’s Construction.
In a touching tribute read on behalf of Dujon, who was too overcome with grief to deliver himself, Danavan was remembered as a “loving and jovial person”.
He was described as the “life of the site,” and kept everyone happy, always the one to bring any issue to the fore and sought to bring justice and restitution in any situation.
Danavan was regarded as ‘Mr Fix It’, as one who maintained high standards and displayed maturity in his approach to handling issues and conflicts. Always advocating for the welfare of others, he persuaded Dujon to sponsor the Savannah Football Club in an effort to help the youth in the community.
Dujon’s tribute went on to recall how valuable ‘Duba’ was to the day-to-day operations of the company.
“He took his role as a site manager very serious; he never let a situation get out of hand and always acted as mediator between management and staff or disputes between co-workers,” said Dujon.
Dujon’s older sister, Luceen McDonald, remembered him as being a loyal friend, so much so that oftentimes he would get into trouble because he was always looking out and helping a friend.
