#TrackingMatthew: Business as usual in Spanish Town despite approaching hurricane
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — It is business as usual in Spanish Town, St Catherine, as residents conduct normal activities ahead of Hurricane Matthew.
Residents can be seen along roadways buying and selling while taxi operators busy themselves seeking passengers for their vehicles.
There is very little concern about the dangerous cyclone that is expected to impact the island later today.
Already Matthew has claimed the lives of at least four people in neighbouring Haiti but residents here in southern Jamaica believe the country will be spared the worst.
“We just a easy. Nothing too tough will happen,” one vendor said, while another insisted that only the eastern section of the island will be severely impacted.
Currently, conditions are cloudy here with very little wind activity.
More information later.
