As I reflect on the history of PwC in Jamaica over the last hundred years, I feel great pride in our achievements and our contributions to national and community development. From a small practice of 8 people in 1916, armed only with a vision, to a practice more than 300 strong and positioned as the leading professional services firm locally, it is fair to say that we have come a long way!

This of course would not have been possible without total commitment to the highest quality service to our clients and a staunch dedication to the development of our people over the years. As such I pay tribute to all our former partners and staff for the solid foundation laid for us to continue to build on.

Our hundredth anniversary is an appropriate time to acknowledge some of the many accomplishments we have had. Thinking back, it strikes me that PwC in Jamaica has been at the forefront of several major milestones of development in the country. From our involvement in enabling public sector and tax reforms, to pioneering internal audit outsourcing in Jamaica, to restructuring and privatization of the sugar industry and even infrastructure development such as the introduction of the country’s first public-private partnership and first tolled highway, we have been fortunate to have served.

Through our alumni too, we widen our impact as they ‘carry the baton’ of excellence developed at PwC, making significant contributions to business and country, both at home and abroad.

And while it is a lot of fun to look back, it is equally exciting to look forward. As evidenced by our history, and standing as a beacon for the future, we continue to live our purpose – to build trust in society and solve important problems.

To my partners, our valued clients and team members, I applaud you and I thank you for our journey shared thus far. I look forward to more great experiences, continued growth and renewed vigour as we begin our next century. We at PwC in Jamaica are honoured to have served our clients, our people and our country. For the loyalty and goodwill of those old and new, our sincere thanks.
