At a recent seminar at the Kingston offices of City & Guilds of London Institute, Professor Oliver underscored the importance of locally trained engineers gaining professional accreditation under several international agreements. These include the Washington Accord, which recognises worldwide qualifications for chartered engineers; the Sydney Accord for Incorporated Engineers; and the Dublin Accord for Engineering Technician. Locally trained engineers can access these international qualifications through City and Guilds programmes offered at IIRQ and other local institutions.
