The Jamaica Observer‘s Entertainment section continues its daily 2016 Year In Review with individuals who made an impact during the year.
SPOTLIGHT – Rebelution
Rebelution had an outstanding 2016. The California reggae band toured relentlessly and maintained a consistent presence on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.
Their fifth studio album, Falling Into Place, released in June by Easy Star Records, received a nod for Best Reggae Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards, a first for the quartet.
This week, Falling Into Place was named the top-selling reggae album of 2016 by Billboard magazine based on that publication’s weekly reggae chart. The album spent non-consecutive weeks at number one and has sold 43,000 units comprising streaming, compact discs and digital downloads.
Formed 12 years ago, Rebelution’s members are lead singer Eric Rachmany, Rory Carey, Marley D Williams, and Wesley Finley.
