NWA to repaint ‘junction boxes’ at Corporate Area intersections
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is aiming to reduce congestion at several intersections in the Corporate Area, leading up the Christmas season and beyond.
A news release from the agency today said that as part of this thrust, the NWA would be re-painting “junction boxes” at 12 intersections.
The intersections where the junction boxes will be painted are:
• Constant Spring Road/Suthermere Road;
• Trafalgar Road/Hope Road;
• Half-Way-Tree Road/Oxford Road;
• Maxfield Avenue/Hagley Park Road;
• Hope Road/Lady Musgrave Road;
• Molynes Road/Washington Boulevard;
• Constant Spring Road/Oliver Road;
• Constant Spring Road/South Avenue;
• Eastwood Park Road/Red Hills Road;
• Half Way Tree Road/Hope Road; and
• Knutsford Boulevard/Oxford Road
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, said that the work to repaint the boxes will commence tonight and should be completed by Tuesday.
Shaw added that the junction boxes will be painted in yellow and will comprise four continuous lines forming a box in the intersection. Within the larger box will be smaller boxes, also painted in yellow.
Motorists are advised that they should not enter an intersection unless there is a clear exit.
He is also reminding motorists that no vehicle should remain stationary within a junction box, except for vehicles waiting to turn right at the intersection.
