A young man who pretended that he was a police constable and robbed a man of his iPhone 4 device after requesting a search will be sentenced in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on January 23, 2017.

Henry Gordon, 22, of Yallahs, St Thomas, was remanded for sentencing last Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to impersonating the police and larceny from the person.

The court heard that on December 6 about 12:13 pm the complainant was walking through St William Grant Park in downtown Kingston, when Gordon approached him and told him that he was a police constable.

Gordon then searched the complainant and removed his cellular phone from the man’s pants pocket and disappeared.

The complainant reported the matter and Gordon was later arrested and charged.

When Parish Judge Judith Pusey questioned Gordon in court about his criminal history, Gordon told the court that he had no conviction but was a troubled child and was in juvenile detention.

The judge then asked him what he was doing with his life and he said that he was not working but plans to look a job as a musician as he can play musical instruments.

A social enquiry report was requested by the judge who remanded Gordon until next year.
